VSC Joins Disciples of Escoffier Philippines for a Benefit Gala Dinner Delectable Palette

Disciplese Escoffier Philippines recently presented a Benefit Gala Dinner dubbed as "Delectable Palette 2" at the Village Sports Club (VSC), El Grande corner Tropical Avenue, BF Homes, Paranaque City.

Eiffelene Salvador, President of Le Club Philippines organized th young and promising chefs of various culinary schools to be involved in the preparations for "Delectable Palette 2." The potential chefs were exposed to the actual preparation of a degustation menu and were privileged to learn a few culinary secrets from Disciples of Escoffier Philippines pool of Master Chefs.

DE President, Chef Philip John Golding stated, "This is about using the barest of what we have:  our hands, our minds, our talents, our time.  And it is about sharing it with others.  Here at Disciples of Escoffier, we do not hide talent, we share it."

Aside from bridging the academe and the key players in the culinary field, the the Escoffier Philippines Gala Night also served as a fund raising dinner for the benefit of Eat and Cheat Cancer, Tuloy Sa Don Bosco Foundation, Support a Culinary Course of a Student of the Lyceum of the Philippines, Donation for a Better Foundation and Culinary Scholarship for Ester Rose Isolo, an underpriviledged yet deserving 17-years old out-of-school youth from Tondo, Manila.

In view of its corporate social responsibility, VSC General Manager Christine Lane asserted, "We are happy that the club can participate in this advocacy.  We are thankful that Disciples of Escoffier considered VSC as a partner for Delectable Palette 2."

Chef Gabby Prats led the team of ace students of the Culinary Institute of Aristocrat for a special 6-Course Degustation Menu reflecting a mix of modern gastronomic interpretation of Philippine classic cuisine and traditional European fare.

As a prelude to the 6-Course Dinner, canapes were prepared by Chef Hylton Le Roux together with a group of students from the University of the Philippines (U.P.). Chef Hylton also continued his mentorship and training of Josiah Theodore "Theo" Cacayan, U.P. student who won the Disciples of Escoffier Young Talent Trophy. Theo and the U.P.  culinary students were full of enthusiasm in creating the hors d'oeuvres  for the discerning guests. Prior to the Benefit Gala Dinner, Theo recently had his baptism of fire when he led the degustation dinner for Delectable Palatte 1 as part of his apprenticeship and preparation for the competition in HongKong.

Service was led by Rod Baumann with the team of Food Details, Inc. and students from the University of the Philippines & Lyceum of the Philippines.

To complement the dining experience, visual artist Van Tuico and sculptor Henry Braulo exhibited their works.  Van Tuico's paintings were the inspiration for the Gala Night's title.

The Gala Benefit Dinner was sponsored by World Class Concepts Corporation, distributor of Wilmax porcelain dishes from England, Lifestyle flatware and Lucaris/ Ocean glasses  and Dielle's Apiary & Meadery Enterprises for the honey wines.
